The other week the boy and I went to the Tate Modern, it was a miserable day and I was tired and grumpy and we both got lost and we were cold, anyway, after debating if we should just turn around and go back home we eventually made it to the Tate Modern and I'm glad we did because (despite it being quite large, there are like 5 floors I think) it was very enjoyable, I especially liked the Waiting For Tear Gas slides by Allan Sekula,
There was something very very soothing that day sitting in a darkened room listening to the hum and click of the projector and looking at people from both sides of a protest, I'd advise everyone to go to it if they're feeling a bit like everything's a bit too loud or they need to get away from the world or themselves, good for insomniacs too! I also re found two photographers that I love -
Graciela Iturbide (born 1942 in Mexico City)
Miyako Ishiuchi (born 1947 Japan)

Some Favourites From The Tate Britain
Walking around the Tate Gallery I found myself some old and new favourites, I actually live only 5 minutes from the Tate and have been there numerous times (on dates or with school) but on my recent visit I really took time to look at things and there seemed to be alot more to see since my last visit and a much better ambience to the place. here's a list of all the artists that I enjoyed the most and couldn't take a sneaky picture of.
John Constable 'Sketch for Hadleigh Castle' 1828
John Constable 'The Sea near Brighton' 1826
John Sargent 'Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose' 1885
Francis Bacon 'Study for a Portrait' 1952
Henry Moore 'Draped Seated Woman' 1957-1958
Henry Moore's Tube Shelter Sketches done in 1940
Don McCullin Homeless man in Spitalfields market 1969
John Martin 1789 -1854 (Probably one of my favourite artists of all time, his paintings are biblical and apocalyptic and you really have to see them in person!)
Peter Doig 'Ski Jacket' 1994
JMW Turner 'Norham Castle Sunrise' 1845
JMW Turner 'Rough Sea' 1840-1845
Lucian Freud 'Girl with a kitten' 1947
